RETURN, REFUND & CANCELLATION POLICY
JMJ SEWING MACHINES
Operated by JMJ Services and Distribution LLC
OUR APPROACH TO RETURNS
JMJ Sewing Machines supplies sewing machinery, parts, accessories, and related textile equipment. This policy explains how to request a voluntary return, what conditions apply to approved refunds, and how order cancellations are handled. Warranty coverage and technical support are addressed separately in our Warranty Policy.
AT A GLANCE
- 14 CALENDAR DAYS: Contact JMJ to request an eligible voluntary return within 14 calendar days after confirmed delivery.
- 20% RESTOCKING FEE: Generally applies to approved voluntary returns of eligible, non-defective merchandise.
- RETURN AUTHORIZATION REQUIRED: Contact JMJ before sending merchandise back.
- PRE-SHIPMENT CANCELLATIONS: No cancellation or restocking fee when JMJ successfully cancels an eligible order before shipment, subject to any disclosed special-order terms.
01 - VOLUNTARY RETURN REQUESTS
To request a voluntary return for reasons other than a product defect, damage in transit, or a fulfillment error, contact JMJ within 14 calendar days after confirmed delivery. Submitting a request within this period does not automatically mean the merchandise qualifies for return.
For voluntary returns, eligible items must generally be unused, uninstalled, complete, and in resalable condition, with their original packaging, manuals, accessories, and included components. JMJ will review the product category, condition, and applicable purchase terms before authorizing a return.
Do not ship a return without authorization. The designated return address may differ from the JMJ retail location.
02 - ITEMS SUBJECT TO RETURN RESTRICTIONS
Voluntary returns may be restricted for certain products, including:
- Special-order items clearly identified as non-returnable before purchase.
- Machines customized or configured to a customer's specifications.
- Industrial equipment that has been installed or materially used.
- Replacement parts that have been installed, altered, or used.
- Items missing essential accessories, manuals, or components.
- Products damaged by improper handling or return transportation arranged by the customer.
- Completed repair, diagnostic, or other services, where non-refundable under the disclosed service terms and applicable law.
These restrictions do not remove rights or remedies required by law for defective, incorrect, or damaged merchandise.
03 - RESTOCKING FEE AND RETURN SHIPPING
Approved voluntary returns of eligible, non-defective merchandise are generally subject to a 20% restocking fee, calculated on the purchase price of the returned product, excluding separately stated taxes and shipping charges.
Customers generally pay return shipping costs for voluntary returns. Industrial machinery may require freight service and protective packaging. Original shipping charges are generally non-refundable for voluntary returns, except as otherwise disclosed or required by law.
Missing components or damage occurring during customer-arranged return shipping may affect the refund amount, to the extent permitted by law.
Important: The voluntary-return restocking fee does not automatically apply when JMJ ships an incorrect item, merchandise arrives damaged, or an applicable legal remedy requires a different resolution.
04 - HOW TO REQUEST A RETURN
- Email ventas@jmjsewingmachines.com with your order number and the product involved.
- Explain the reason for your request and provide photos when relevant.
- Wait for JMJ's review and written return instructions.
- If approved, package the item as instructed and send it to the authorized return location.
- Retain the tracking and delivery records until the matter is resolved.
Unauthorized returns may be delayed or refused where permitted by law.
05 - RETURN PACKAGING & SHIPPING REQUIREMENTS
Protecting returned equipment during transportation is an important part of the return process. Once JMJ Sewing Machines authorizes a voluntary return, the customer must follow the packing and shipping instructions provided for that item.
Preparing the Equipment
- Original packaging: Reuse the original shipping carton and protective inserts whenever they remain suitable. If they are unavailable, use packaging appropriate for the item's size, weight, and fragility.
- Industrial machines: Secure the machine head and any table, motor, stand, or other included components against shifting, impact, and abrasion. Follow JMJ's instructions on whether components should remain assembled or be separated for transport.
- Freight and pallets: When freight shipping is required, use a pallet rated for the shipment and appropriate blocking, cushioning, wrapping, and restraints. Do not allow the machine or table to extend beyond the pallet without an approved protective arrangement.
- Domestic machines: Use a rigid carton with cushioning around the machine. Protect delicate controls, the needle area, and removable accessories.
- Parts and accessories: Package smaller items separately within the shipment so they cannot strike the machine or become lost.
- Photo record: Photograph the item before packing, its protective materials, and the fully packed shipment. Retain these images and all shipping documents until the return is resolved.
Shipping Instructions and Responsibility
Do not dispatch merchandise until JMJ has provided return authorization and the correct return destination. The return address may differ from the retail store. Keep the tracking number, freight receipt, and proof of delivery.
For voluntary returns shipped under the customer's arrangements, inadequate packaging or handling-related damage may affect return eligibility or the refund amount after inspection, to the extent permitted by law. JMJ will document relevant findings and explain any applicable deductions.
Important: These instructions concern authorized voluntary returns. Defective, incorrect, or transit-damaged merchandise is assessed separately, and these requirements do not limit non-waivable legal rights or applicable warranty remedies.
06 - INSPECTION AND REFUND PROCESSING
Returned merchandise may be inspected after arrival to verify its condition, included components, and compliance with the authorized return terms. If approved, refunds are generally issued to the original payment method, less any properly disclosed and applicable deductions.
Refund processing and the time needed for funds to appear may vary by payment provider and financial institution. If an item does not meet the approved voluntary-return conditions, JMJ will communicate its findings and available options, consistent with applicable law.
07 - INCORRECT, DAMAGED, OR INCOMPLETE ORDERS
If your order arrives damaged, incomplete, or different from what you purchased, contact JMJ as soon as reasonably possible. Keep the item, packaging, shipping labels, and delivery documents while the issue is reviewed.
For freight shipments, inspect the delivery when practical and record visible damage on the carrier's delivery receipt. Reporting concealed damage within 48 hours, when possible, can assist with carrier coordination; this recommendation does not waive rights protected by law.
Available solutions depend on the circumstances and applicable legal obligations and may include missing components, repair, replacement, return authorization, refund, or another required remedy. For additional delivery instructions, consult our Shipping & Delivery Policy.
08 - ORDER CANCELLATIONS
Customers may request cancellation before shipment. When JMJ successfully cancels an eligible order before shipment, no cancellation or restocking fee is charged.
After an order is transferred to the shipping carrier, cancellation may no longer be possible. Any subsequent voluntary return is evaluated under the return conditions above.
Special-order, customized, or project-specific merchandise may have additional cancellation terms if they were disclosed and accepted before purchase. If JMJ cancels an order because it cannot supply the merchandise, applicable amounts paid will be refunded.
09 - WARRANTY MATTERS ARE HANDLED SEPARATELY
The 14-day voluntary return period is separate from any applicable product warranty. A warranty request is not automatically treated as a voluntary return and is not automatically subject to the 20% restocking fee.
For warranty duration, covered parts and labor, exclusions, and available technical assistance, please refer to the separate JMJ Sewing Machines Warranty Policy or contact our team. Nothing in this Return Policy limits non-waivable consumer rights or separate manufacturer warranties.
10 - BUSINESS AND COMMERCIAL PURCHASES
Institutional purchases, equipment packages, commercial orders, and specially configured machinery may have additional written terms disclosed and accepted before purchase. Where an accepted commercial quotation or agreement sets specific return or cancellation conditions, those terms apply to the extent permitted by law.
For business purchasing inquiries, visit our Business Sales | B2B page.
11 - PAYMENT QUESTIONS AND CUSTOMER RIGHTS
For questions about a refund or payment status, contact JMJ with your order number and transaction details. We will review the available records and explain the next steps.
Nothing in this policy limits lawful payment dispute rights or mandatory consumer protections.
12 - POLICY REVIEW BEFORE CHECKOUT
For purchases made through the standard shopping cart on our online store, customers are presented with a policy acknowledgment checkbox before proceeding to checkout. The customer must select this checkbox to continue through that cart flow. We encourage customers to review the linked return, shipping, warranty, and other applicable policies before placing an order.
Policy acknowledgment does not limit rights or remedies that cannot be waived under applicable law. Other ordering channels or accelerated checkout methods may have different acknowledgment steps.
13 - POLICY UPDATES
JMJ may update this policy as its operations, products, or applicable requirements change. Updates will display a revised date. Changes will not retroactively remove rights that applied to previously accepted orders where prohibited by law.
