JUKI® MO-6716DA-DE4-40H Semi-Dry 5-Thread Safety-Stitch Industrial Serger with External Servo Motor
Wheels are not included and are sold separately.
TWO NEEDLES • FIVE THREADS • SEMI-DRY SEWING AREA
Build a dedicated station for joining garment panels and finishing their edges in the same pass. The JUKI MO-6716DA-DE4-40H uses two needles and five threads to form a type 516 safety stitch, combining a chainstitch joining line with an overedge finish.
This configuration has a 3.2 mm needle gauge, a 4.0 mm overedging width, and an extra-high-throw upper looper. JUKI classifies the DE4-40H for medium-to-heavy materials; the fabric and required seam should guide equipment selection.
The JMJ package includes an external 110V servo motor, fully submerged industrial table, and stand. Our team assembles the workstation, applies the required lubrication, adjusts the machine, and performs a sewing test before delivery or shipment.
Key Features
- Two-Needle, Five-Thread Safety Stitch: A joining stitch and an overedge finish work together for garment seams that require both operations.
- DE4 Seam Configuration: The 3.2 mm needle spacing, 4.0 mm overedge, and two-row feed dog define this setup. Other MO-6700DA subclasses may use different measurements and feeding parts.
- 40H Upper Looper: The extra-high-throw looper identifies the specified medium-to-heavy material configuration, rather than a standard-throw or high-throw alternative.
- Differential Feed with Micro-Adjustment: The standard 1:0.7 to 1:2 range supports stretching or gathering adjustments during feeding. A lever allows fine changes to suit the material.
- Push-Button Stitch Adjustment: Set stitch length between 1.5 and 4.0 mm to match the construction and spacing required for the seam.
- Standard Micro-Lifter: Fine presser-foot clearance adjustment helps tune material handling. The published maximum foot lift is 7 mm; this is not a guaranteed sewing-thickness capacity.
- Up to 7,000 Stitches per Minute: The machine head supports high-speed production. Working speed must be appropriate for the fabric, thread, needle, motor, and machine adjustments.
- Included External Servo Motor: The separate motor provides adjustable sewing-speed control. This JMJ package is not an integrated direct-drive or fully automatic configuration.
Semi-Dry Head & Lubrication
The needle-bar and upper-looper mechanisms use JUKI's dry-mechanism design to reduce oil exposure close to the sewing area. The remaining lubricated mechanisms retain an automatic oiling system.
This arrangement helps reduce the risk of oil marks on fabric without making the entire machine oil-free. Oil-level checks, cleaning, and the manufacturer's grease-service guidance still apply.
Specified oil: JUKI Machine Oil 18, identified by JUKI as equivalent to ISO VG18. Grease access is provided at the upper-looper component and machine frame. Follow the manual for condition-dependent grease replenishment.
Applications
- Knitwear and sweater-panel assembly requiring a five-thread safety seam.
- Sportswear, activewear, and children's garments made from suitable medium-to-heavy fabrics.
- Compatible woven garment assemblies that need a joining seam alongside an overedge finish.
- Repeated apparel-seaming operations where limiting oil exposure around the needle and upper looper is important.
Material selection matters: The manufacturer's category is medium-to-heavy (M–H). For lightweight T-shirts, fine shirts, lingerie, or highly elastic seams, request a sample test before choosing this subclass. Five-thread safety stitching does not replace every overlock or coverstitch seam construction.

The 7,000-stitch-per-minute figure is the machine head's maximum rating, not a promise for every material or motor setting. The 28 kg figure is the head weight, not the weight of the assembled package. Needle size and sewing adjustments should be selected for the actual production work.
What's Included in the JMJ Package
- JUKI MO-6716DA-DE4-40H machine head with its DE4 and 40H configuration.
- External servo motor configured for 110V operation.
- Fully submerged industrial sewing table and stand.
- Standard micro-lifter installed on the machine.
- DC×27 #11 needles.
- Lubricating oil, standard accessory kit, and operator's manual.
- JMJ assembly, required lubrication, calibration, and sewing-performance test.
The 40H looper mechanism and standard micro-lifter are features of the supplied machine, not separate machines or additional accessory bundles.
Optional Equipment & Package Limits
- Needle Cooler: Available as an optional device for compatible applications; not included in this package.
- Needle-Thread Heat Remover: An optional thread heat-control device, selected according to the thread, fabric, and working conditions.
- Automatic Devices: Automatic thread-chain cutting, suction equipment, and automatic presser-foot lifting are not included in the listed JMJ package. Adding a servo motor does not, by itself, provide those functions.
- Wheels: Caster wheels are sold separately. Wheels shown on showroom equipment are used to move machines within the store and are not part of the standard purchase.
Fully Assembled & Prepared by JMJ
JMJ prepares the machine head, included motor, table, and stand as an assembled workstation rather than an unassembled collection of components.
Preparation includes the applicable lubrication, calibration, and a sewing test. Our team also explains the supplied controls and routine care. Different fabrics, threads, or seam requirements may call for additional production-specific adjustments.
Wheels are not included and are sold separately.
JMJ Sewing Machines Recommends
Consider this setup for a dedicated five-thread safety-seaming operation on suitable medium-to-heavy garment materials, especially when reducing oil exposure near the stitching area is important to your workflow.
Check the required seam against the 3.2 mm needle gauge, 4.0 mm overedge, number of material layers, and expected stretch. A production sample provides a better basis for choosing the configuration than maximum speed alone.
Our Recommendation: Share a fabric sample or clear photos of the required seam with JMJ. We can help assess the machine setup, needle, thread, and adjustments. Confirm very light or highly elastic applications through a sewing test.
